The School of Humanities and Social Sciences has a Stata site licence which allows all academic and research staff of any Faculty or Department of the School, and all students, to install Stata on their personal and unversity devices. The software licence will run until September each year and then need a new licence key to continue working.

Installation

To install STATA on your own computer, please select the appropriate installer for you operating system below (You will be asked to login with Raven):

(If you need installers for other operating systems, please contact the IT Team it@econ.cam.ac.uk)

Run the Installer, click Next and accept the User Agreement and click Next again.

Enter your Full Name and for Organization put Faculty of Economics and click Next.

You will now be asked what 'Flavor' of STATA you wish to install, select 'STATA/MP'

Click Next to all the screens until the installation has finished.

Activation

To activate Stata, go to this link:https://www.vle.cam.ac.uk/mod/resource/view.php?id=12944351

You may be asked to login with your Raven details.

Open the PDF from the link and open Stata.

Stata will ask you for the information in the PDF, fill in the details and click okay.

Instructions:

Step 1: Locate Software and Download
Login here
Enter Net ID and Password
Choose Stata from Download Options list
Choose the installer that matches your computer software
Step 2: Locate Download File and Move to Desktop
In Chrome: locate downloaded file in the bottom right hand side
In Safari: locate downloaded file in upper right hand downloads location

Step 3: Launch Installer and Begin Installation

Step 4: Choose Program Type
Typical users will choose StataSE
This version is appropriate for introductory statistics courses at UW Madison

Step 6: Choose File Organization
Individual users will most likely choose 'Use Each User's Documents Folder'
Department may choose to use a 'Fixed Folder for All Users' if multiple users wish to access one file

Step 7: Wait for Installation
Ensure consistent Wifi connectivity for best results
Process may exceed 10 minutes
